DIY Mama Bear Shirt with Cricut Glitter Iron On Vinyl

It’s no secret that once a girl becomes a mom, a little bit of attitude can come along with that.  I have been loving all of the Mama Bear shirts online and needed my very own.  I decided to make one for my pregnancy and for Halloween this year since being pregnant can really bring the “grizzly” out of even the nicest girl!  🙂

I have barely used my Cricut since I bought it a year ago but it worked like a DREAM when making this shirt!  This was super easy and opened up so many more ideas for later!

Ok first I chose a black shirt.  Any cotton t-shirt would work great for this project.  I put a ruler on the shirt to see how big I was going to want the letters to be.  This will vary from person to person but I chose about 8.5 inches wide by 5 inches tall.

Design your words on Cricut Design Space and then VERY IMPORTANT…reverse your words so that when you iron them on, they will read from left to right!

I bought the gold glitter iron-on vinyl from Hobby Lobby but any iron-on vinyl will work…just make sure you see the words “iron-on” on the package.

Place the vinyl with the plastic lining down and set your machine to the iron-on setting.  Cut and then using one of your Cricut tools, carefully pull the excess vinyl off to only leave the letters.  This might take some time but it’s worth being super careful!

Then cut your words apart if need be and place them carefully on the shirt with the plastic lining on top.  I pressed each word for about 10 to 15 seconds and they stayed on great!  Check for pieces that didn’t stick, place the plastic back over, and press again.  I will be washing this shirt inside out on cold to keep the letters from peeling off.

All done!  This is so much fun I think I’ll be wearing it all of the time…or on those special Mama Bear days!  🙂

I also made these fun Mama Bear Ears to go with my shirt for Halloween!  See the how-to here!
